Wonderful roads, practically no traffic which was great, particulaly as the Scotch mist meant I couldn't see for much of the way as my glasses kept getting misted up! Oban however is obviously the centre of many people's universe this weekend. I've never seen it so busy. Roads are gridlocked and cyclists are about the only people getting about easily. I met two cyclists on holiday who said with great pride that over the last three or four days they had cycled 20 miles. I felt somewhat guilty that I replied saying I'd just passed my 700 mile point - wonder if they thought that was in 3 or 4 days too! This time next week I should be in John O'Groats and as I'm ahead of schedule am thinking of stopping for a couple of days in Fort William.

Overnight halt Great Western Hotel... where as one of the youngest residents I've already been asked to carry people's bags upstairs!
