Set off from Mum & Dad's armed with my clean clothes and a good breakfast. A few miles down the road who did I find on the roadside but - Mum & Dad. Whether checking I was on the right road or just checking I really had left the house, remains to be seen! Today's weather has been revolting - only half an hour of dry roads, lots of spray and a series of downpours which have sent me diving for cover. Wore leggings for the first 20 miles to avoid the only downside of a recumbent trike in the rain - the fact that the angle you sit at helps the rain run straight into your shorts! After sweating madly I gave up the leggings and just let the rain do it's worst. Shap looms large in my thoughts tonight - some say it's a killer, others that it's nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be. I'm sure all the doom mongers weren't on recumbent trikes and I know which version I hope to be telling .....but tomorrow will tell!

Overnight halt Keith Dawson's Highgate Hotel Keith's an enthusiastic touring cyclist with a Dawes Galaxy which is keeping the trike company tonight while hopefully I can get to hear some cycling tales!
